8GB VRAM GPUs are a trap, even if they're cheaper than the alternative.
Yeah. I will say this, when it comes to desktops, I wouldn't want a GPU with only 8GB of VRAM on it. It's not enough. My rigs have 16 GB and up in them, with my main rig possessing a 24 GB GPU in it.
