  • Terence Crawford Can Beat Canelo.

Terence Crawford will be fighting Canelo Alvarez in September (2025), and to many Crawford is the underdog due to his size disadvantage. Terence Crawford is moving up from 147 pounds to 168 pounds to fight against Canelo, and this seems on the surface to be a highly unlikely feat for Crawford to win. However, I full heartedly believe Crawford has the skill, punching power, and physical strength to give Canelo a run for his money.

On the surface, the only advantage Canelo has over Crawford is size and punching power. To be bluntly honest these so called "advantages" Canelo has over Crawford aren't advantages, but just stereotypes to the untrained eyes of many. Just because Canelo fights at a higher weight class doesn't mean he is a stronger puncher and physically stronger than Crawford, what people don't understand is, Crawford is a freak of nature.

In actuality, Crawford naturally has both stronger punching power and physicality than Canelo Alvarez. Canelo's punching power is vastly overrated. Canelo couldn't even knockout a smaller Jermell Charlo who moved up two weight classes, and its a boxing fact that Crawford is physically stronger than Jermell. Meaning Canelo knocking out Terence Crawford will be an extremely difficult feat.

Crawford actually has more advantages over Canelo Alvarez than vice versa. Crawford can fight in both Orthodox and southpaw stances; Crawford has quicker foot movement and punching speed than Canelo; and contrary to popular belief Crawford has more punching power and physical strength than Canelo Alvarez (if you don't believe me then just check out Crawford's knockout ratio). Crawford knocked out every welterweight he has fought against, Canelo also fought at welterweight and didn't have nearly the same devastating knockout ratio as Crawford. I've witnessed both Crawford and Canelo fight on plenty of occasions, and by the eye test Crawford definitely has more pop behind his punches than Canelo.

To add insult to injury, Crawford also has more of an array of punches than Canelo. Canelo doesn't have a jab, Canelo only has a hook punch; while Crawford can jab, hook, and fight in multiple stances. Don't be surprised if Terence Crawford defeats Canelo Alvarez.

Great analysis bruh. It's too bad that they cancelled the fight due to Alvarez pulling out of it. It would have been a great fight to watch. However, I believe that Alvarez is ducking Crawford.
